Four people were injured in a crash involving a van and a pickup truck on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Southborough late Friday, according to authorities.

First responders responded to the serious collision at the 109.3 mile marker on the westbound side of the Mass. Pike shortly before 7 p.m. Two people were trapped inside the van and had to be extricated from the vehicle with hydraulic rescue tools, the Southborough Fire Department said in a Facebook post.

Four people in total were taken to the hospital with moderate to serious injuries, according to the post.

The Westborough Fire Department helped in the response to the crash by sending two ambulances and a rescue engine. Brewster Ambulance Service sent one ambulance from Framingham, the post said.

No further details about the crash were immediately released to the public by the department.
