Bloomington to host Candy Cane Drop at Miller Park

BLOOMINGTON — The Miller Park Pavilion will play host to a "Candy Cane Drop" on Dec. 9.

Bloomington Parks and Recreation's forestry crew will be in a boom lift truck alongside Santa Claus to drop candy canes to children in attendance.

"This all-outdoor program fills up fast and is always a fun holiday experience," said Jill Eichholz, program manager for the parks and recreation department. "Pre-registration is required at BloomingtonParks.org."

Registration is $12 per child. Parents must check in at 10 a.m. outside the main entrance of Miller Park Pavilion with the drop taking place at 10:15 a.m.

Participants will have an opportunity to visit Santa after the candy cane drop.

Parents must remain with their children throughout the entire event.

The De Brazza's Monkey exhibit is expected to open in mid-July, and zoo officials expect to break ground this fall on a new South America exhibit that will feature three different animals — Giant Anteaters, Galapagos Tortoises and Bush Dogs.
