1 hurt after school bus, dump truck collide in Aitkin County

AITKIN — An Aitkin woman was injured after the school bus she was driving collided with a dump truck Friday, Oct. 13, on Highway 169 in Aitkin County.

The crash was reported at 11:23 a.m. on Highway 169 at 405th Lane in Morrison Township, north of Aitkin, the Minnesota State Patrol reported. The school bus and dump truck were northbound on Highway 169 when the dump truck attempted to turn into a residence, cut in front of the school bus and caused the collision.

The driver of the school bus, Tammy Hagen, 49, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin. Two passengers in the school bus — a 3-year-old boy and a 4-year-old boy, both of Aitkin — were not injured.

The driver of the dump truck, Dakota Erickson, 26, Leonard, also was not injured in the crash.

The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office assisted the State Patrol at the scene of the crash.
