TACOMA, Wash. — A Tacoma man has had his truck and trailer stolen out of his driveway twice in a three-day period, starting Oct. 12. He needed both to run his small business.
"Anger, sheer anger, just wanted to find the person and beat the crap out of them," owner Edward Rubio said about the robbery. "I looked outside my window, and I didn't see my black trailer, so I immediately just thought someone just stole the trailer. But when I ran out here, I noticed the trailer and the truck were gone," His friend posted on Facebook about his stolen goods. Two days later, someone contacted him saying his trailer had been dumped outside his house in a neighborhood about three miles away.
On Sunday, Rubio went to collect the trailer. He left to get equipment to connect it to his van and just 90 minutes later, the trailer was stolen again.
"Went back and the trailer was gone again. And I'm going, what the heck, they stole it again!" Rubio said.
Auto thefts in Tacoma are outpacing last year's numbers. According to the Tacoma Police Department, they're up 25% compared to last year. Last year during this time there were 1,032 auto thefts. This year in Tacoma right now, the number is 1,295. “I couldn't believe it. I was dumbfounded that my trailer got stolen not once, but twice, within three days. After getting it back. It's just ridiculous," said Rubio. Rubio has filed a police report for both his stolen truck and his black trailer. His truck is described as a turquoise Ram truck with a license plate: C610702.
He said a witness spotted two white men with masks take his trailer during the second theft. They were driving a white Ford F150, with a license plate: C70443K.
