Garbage tractor-trailer overturns in crash with pickup near Neosho

NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. — About 5 p.m. Friday crash occurred involving a pickup and fully-loaded garbage tractor-trailer, both vehicles overturned, at Mo-86 and Mo-59.

Newton County Ambulance, Neosho Fire District, Newton County Deputies responded. Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified. The crash blocked all traffic through this busy intersection initially.

Missouri State Highway Patrol tell us on the scene the pickup was westbound on Mo-86, and failed to yield to a northbound tractor-trailer on Mo-59.

Driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

MSHP REPORT.

The 17-year-old male driver of the pickup was transported to an area hospital. We learn he is the Jr. attendant at East Newton Homecoming tonight. He will not be at the game. He suffered non-life threatening injuries we are told.

M&M Wrecker were summoned and began the hours-long process of emptying most of the garbage into slide off dumpsters they bring. They will then set the tractor-trailer upright.

Expect delays and closures throughout the evening.
