Fairfield police ID worker who was struck and killed by garbage truck

Fairfield police have identified Bryan Rodriguez, of Stratford, as the United Carting employee who was struck and killed by a garbage truck.

FAIRFIELD — Police have identified the 28-year-old employee of a garbage collection company who was fatally struck by his truck while working last week.

Fairfield Police Lt. Edward Nook said the man, Bryan Rodriguez, of Stratford, was pronounced dead after first responders arrived to the scene.

Nook said police were called to the scene early Wednesday morning to the area Campfield and Bloomfield Drive for the crash involving the United Carting garbage truck and one of the company's workers.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the police department's Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating the incident, according to Nook.

Nook did not immediately say if there were any charges filed against the driver of the truck.
