Tree Service Boom Truck Incident Causes Roof Damage in Largo
Firefighters from Seminole Fire Rescue were dispatched to an address in 10600 block of 106th Street N in unincorporated Largo in response to an emergency call at approximately 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
Upon arrival, emergency crews discovered a boom truck operated by El Cheapo Tree Service that had tipped over, its boom resting across the home’s roof. The truck was suspended above the ground, supported solely by its outrigger, which had damaged the home’s roof, resulting in structural harm.
According to information provided by nearby residents, a tree service company had positioned their boom truck in the residence’s backyard to conduct tree work on an adjacent property. Residents say that the outrigger had been positioned on top of a septic tank, leading to its collapse.
Another crane company was summoned to the scene to rectify the situation and prevent further damage to the home. Fortunately, the resident was not present at the time of the incident but did arrive shortly afterward.
There were no reported injuries. A building inspector was requested to evaluate the extent of the damage.
